Peregrine acquisition “excellent news for Axios Systems”
Commenting on the $425 million deal, Ailsa Symeonides, co-founder and Sales and Marketing Director of Axios Systems (www.axiossystems.com) said: "This is excellent news for us. At a time when organizations are calling out for stability among their vendors, HP plans to integrate two completely different technologies. This might appear feasible and simplistic but in fact will be a complex process which in practice is likely to prove very difficult."
Peregrine's AssetCenter product is to be incorporated in HP's OpenView tool but Mrs Symeonides noted that Axios' core solution assyst has included Asset Management from the product’s inception in 1988 and was underpinned by a centralized Configuration Management Database (CMDB), an essential part of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL® - internationally accepted guidelines for Best Practice in ITSM).
Competing against vendors such as HP, Axios Systems has recently been voted top IT Help Desk vendor for the third time in succession in the UK Help Desk Software Vendor Report published by the HDI (Help Desk Institute).
"It is encouraging to see that other vendors are increasingly recognizing the benefits of Asset Management, CMDBs and ITIL® which are becoming essential demands of organizations looking for totally integrated solutions," she stated.
In a recent survey conducted by Axios Systems and the Help Desk Institute, 78% of respondents said they believed ITIL® was important, echoing the growth in importance and worldwide adoption of ITIL® in the ITSM community.
Mrs Symeonides said Axios Systems, which has some 200 staff in nine countries including the United States, and several hundred blue chip customers around the world, was likely to pick up even more business because of the hiatus which would inevitably take place as the HP and Peregrine products were co-ordinated. The 'roadmap' for the new HP/ Peregrine Service Desk was uncertain, she said.
"Axios is particularly well placed to capitalize on these uncertainties because of its global support capabilities, existing excellent reputation and constant product innovation,” Mrs Symeonides commented.
She also noted that many of Peregrine's large channel partners such as IBM and Mercury may see this move from HP as a threat to future partnerships and therefore this may present further opportunities for other vendors.
