IBM-Tivoli and Axios Systems sign Dutch partnership deal

IBM-Tivoli and Axios Systems sign Dutch partnership deal
06/12/2002

The agreement offers a single IT Service Management (ITSM) solution encompassing IBM-Tivoli's system management products and Axios' Help Desk and ITSM application, assyst.

"Our customers can now choose to take a Help Desk and IT Service Management application from one of the leading companies in the field," commented Raymond Meijer, Sales Manager, IBM-Tivoli Software, Netherlands. He said that some nine out of 10 IBM-Tivoli customers required such an application.

He added: "We believe the agreement will generate more business for both organizations. It is much more than a technical interface - our teams will be working together to exploit new revenue opportunities."

IBM-Tivoli Software has some 74 products, including Tivoli Enterprise Console and Tivoli Configuration Manager, which monitor problems in IT infrastructures. It also provides security, storage and data recovery software. Integrating this technology with assyst can deliver major benefits for organizations.

Axios' Sales and Marketing Director Ailsa Symeonides said the agreement was another significant milestone in the development of the Edinburgh-based company which has been voted the UK's best Help Desk and IT Service Management Software vendor for the past two years in a row.

"We are delighted to be working in partnership with this part of the global IBM organization," she went on. "It is further evidence of Axios' growing international reputation. Our products complement one another and the agreement has significant benefits for customers, significantly broadening the product offering and leveraging the strengths of both companies."

The companies have jointly developed 'middleware' which enables assyst and Tivoli to interface closely, allowing bi-directional communication which permits Tivoli Enterprise Console alerts to be managed as incidents within assyst and vice-versa; the assyst CMDB information to be updated by Tivoli Configuration Manager and Netview; and assyst Help Desk users to take remote control via Tivoli of users' PCs.

IBM-Tivoli has already given a presentation to several hundred Axios customers at their annual user group conference in the Scottish capital.

The partnership discussions began after the two organizations found themselves bidding for business from the same customers in the Netherlands. Axios has had an office there for five years and the Netherlands is one of its main markets. It is shortly to re-locate its office from Utrecht to central Amsterdam.
