California and Australia the next moves in Axios’ international expansion

The new offices are aimed at taking advantage of growing opportunities for its award-winning assyst solution in the Asia-Pacific region and on the West coast of the United States, Sales and Marketing Director Ailsa Symeonides said.

Axios currently has offices in the UK, France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, and Herndon near Washington DC in the United States. Its assyst product allows customers to manage and control effectively their IT systems, log and track incidents, and uncover the causes of underlying problems.

Its first American office was opened in early 2001. Last year the firm sent a high-level team there from its Edinburgh headquarters under Ross McIntosh, now Vice-President for North America.

“We have already done very well in North America but there are many more opportunities for us on the West coast and other parts of the US. Our presence in California will help us make the most of these openings,” Mrs Symeonides commented. The new offices will be at Redwood Shores in the San Francisco Bay area.

She added: “California itself is a huge potential market and the base of some of our main competitors. It is a long way from coast to coast so we need to spread our geographical bases. The overall US market is so large that we could attend a targeted exhibition or conference somewhere in the country every single week of the year.”

Axios’ North American clients include mail order retailer Lands’ End, Ingersoll Rand, Mid-American Energy, Northern Natural Gas, Canadian Tire and Manitoba Telecom.

The new Sydney office will be managed by Andros Symeonides, elder son of Mrs Symeonides and her husband Tasos who founded the family firm in 1988. He will be responsible for building up business in the Asia-Pacific region which Mrs Symeonides said was a hitherto untapped market for Axios Systems.

“We have been approached by numerous potential partners in Australia and elsewhere in the region. Setting up in Sydney will allow us to pursue partnerships and follow up other sales leads in the region,” she said.
