Axios wraps up IT Service Management deal with Swiss packager

The deal is the latest success for Axios Systems ( in German-speaking Europe and follows Sigpack’s decision to switch its Help Desk and other ITSM functions in-house from an outsourcer. 


Sigpack, which has its headquarters at Neuhausen near Schaffhausen, packs food items as well as health and body care products, and provides packaging systems. In 2003 it reported sales of around €230 (£160 million) and employed some 1,500 staff. In July 2004 it was acquired by the Bosch packaging group. 


It said its choice of assyst was based on a series of factors including value for money, rapid implementation of an ‘out-of-the-box’ solution, and the tool’s open database architecture. Sigpack also said assyst could be adapted quickly to its internal processes because it could be developed on its existing SQL database. 


The Swiss firm added that the Axios solution required no customization and was able to cover all processes in the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL®) - internationally accepted guidelines for Best Practice in IT Service Management. It also reported that reference visits to other users had been successful. 


Sigpack is initially using assyst for Incident and Asset Management, and plans to introduce it for Change, Problem and other ITIL® processes.

Last year Axios announced that new customers in Germany included Munich City Council, broadcaster Suedwestrundfunk and Cologne Savings Bank.
