Axios Systems’ Executive Vice President ‘Sleeps Rough’ to Raise Awareness on Homelessness
10/02/2017

Markos Symeonides, Executive Vice President at Axios Systems, one of the world’s leading innovators of service management technology, has teamed up with Social Bite and 250 other CEOs and Directors to raise awareness on homelessness.

In mid-December, Mr. Symeonides, along with the other CEOs and Directors, slept overnight in Edinburgh, Scotland’s Charlotte Square. The business leaders spent 12 hours in below freezing conditions, receiving a small taste of what the homeless community in Scotland faces in the brutal winter months.

All money raised went towards Social Bite's, a Scottish sandwich shop and café company that donates all profits to social causes, latest venture of constructing 10 low cost, eco-friendly homes, designed to reintegrate 20 homeless people back into residential living before moving onto more permanent accommodations.

Markos Symeonides, Executive Vice President of Axios Systems, said: “Homelessness is not only a growing epidemic in Scotland, but worldwide. According to a recent survey by Habitat for Humanity, 1.6 billion people lack adequate housing globally (Habitat, 2015). It was an honor for me to participate with my colleagues in the ‘Sleeping Rough’ event and I look forward to continuing to support Social Bite and other charity efforts in combatting homelessness globally.”
