High flying Axios takes airline to new heights

IT systems at CHAMP Cargo Systems (CCS) are set to hit greater heights, thanks to new Help Desk and IT Service Management software.

CHAMP Cargo Systems, which provides IT services for the Luxembourg-based carrier Cargolux Airlines, has selected assyst, the award-winning tool from Axios Systems (www.axiossystems.com), and will use it initially for Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration and Asset Management.

"We are constantly trying to improve the efficiency of our IT systems and this is one important way of achieving this," said Bryan Pearce, Help Desk Manager.

Cargolux, which has 13 747-400 series jumbo jets and offices in 75 locations worldwide, set up Champ Cargo Systems earlier this year as a separate IT facilities organization. Although Cargolux remains its main customer, CHAMP Cargo Systems also provides and supports eCHAMPĀ®, its state-of-the-art Cargo Handling and Management Planning application, to a number of other airlines around the world.

"We looked at a number of other ITSM solutions," Bryan added. "Each had its own advantages and disadvantages but assyst was an out-of-the-box tool which seemed to offer more possibilities and greater functionality." Another factor was that assyst is fully compliant with the IT Information Library (ITIL®), the internationally accepted guidelines for Best Practice in IT Service Management.

Cargolux previously used an in-house developed Help Desk tool but decided to look for an integrated, ready-to-use solution after finding that this could not meet some of its growing needs.
